Being a woman today is HARD. Yes, we have conveniences and luxuries our grandmothers did not have. More opportunities and advantages open to us than ever before. But appreciation wanes because the space opened up by those benefits quickly fill with endless expectations; placed on us by society, the church, family, friends, and ourselves.
Somewhere between the raging storms we battle and the mundane, routine of life we slosh through, we lose ourselves. We forget who we are in Christ. Our adoption papers declaring us “Daughter of the King” get dirtied, crumpled and lost in the shuffle. The power of God’s Spirit within us gets trampled down as we accomplish daily marching orders in our own strength. We ignore the passionate love of our Savior toward us as the world’s suiters vie for our time and attention.
The result? Women tied up in knots. Women war-torn and weary with no reserves left. Women accomplishing task after assignment, yet feeling weak and powerless; nothing seems purposeful or lasting.
At times, we need reminded who we are in Christ. We need a declaration of our true identity. Not just words, but truths that fan our flame of faith. Power-filled proclamations propelling us into our routines and storms with renewed passion and strength. Rich statements of the faith that calm us with clear understanding of our position and potential in Him.
The following declares who we are in Christ; a condensed version, for to claim all would take page upon page. Read through this several times, pausing on each key word and phrase, until it sinks deep who you are in Jesus. Even better, read out loud. Copy and paste to your mirror until you can walk in these truths every day:
“I am a WOMAN OF GOD.
FORGIVEN and REDEEMED by JESUS CHRIST,
CLEANSED by HIS BLOOD,
being TRANSFORMED into HIS LIKENESS.
I am LOVED, PURSUED, and CALLED;
PURIFIED, JUSTIFIED, and GLORIFIED.
I stand CLOTHED in STRENGTH and DIGNITY;
ROBED in RIGHTEOUSNESS.
I am GIFTED by the SPIRIT; EQUIPPED with WORDS OF LIFE;
and COMMISSIONED for Kingdom work HERE and NOW.”
(1 John 1:9, Ephesians 1:7, Romans 8:29-30, John 6:44, Proverbs 31:25, Isaiah 61:10; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19-20)
Peace pervades our soul when our identity as God’s child, daughter of the King of Glory, becomes unquestionable and real to us. If we keep these truths before us as we journey through life, our daily living shines vibrant and pulsates with holy fervor and purpose, producing a radical display of God’s glory to those around us.
